Quem somos
The Center for Research and Development in Immunobiologicals (CeRDI) is composed of a multidisciplinary team of researchers, managers, technicians, and students from both research institutions and partner companies. The center focuses on two primary areas: influenza vaccines and neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against toxins and viruses. CeRDI is managed by an Executive Committee, supported by associate researchers and managers from various departments at Instituto Butantan, as well as an International Advisory Board comprising both Brazilian and international scientists.
Missão
CeRDI’s initiatives aim to conduct problem-oriented research addressing health challenges of significant social and economic relevance to the State of São Paulo. These actions are designed to establish an independent sector capable of responding to public needs with agility.
O que fazemos
Regarding the influenza vaccine, CeRDI aims to develop products that enhance the immune response in populations with higher morbidity and mortality rates. These include adjuvanted vaccines, high-dose antigen vaccines, vaccines produced in mammalian cell culture systems, and broad-spectrum influenza vaccines based on antigens from conserved regions across diverse viral strains. Furthermore, the center aims to develop neutralizing human monoclonal antibodies (humAbs), with a focus on anti-tetanus mAbs, anti-Zika virus, anti-sylvatic yellow fever virus, and anti-influenza virus mAbs (including H7N9 and broad-spectrum vaccine derivatives).
